Opportunities

We have opportunities for postdocs, PhD students and internal Master's (Part II) students - see information about funding below. We are particularly open to applications from traditionally underrepresented groups in the physical sciences.

  • Postdoctoral Fellowships: We are willing to support talented individuals who wish to apply for funding to work in our group. If you have a particular scheme in mind, and you have checked that you are eligible, please contact Adam for further discussion. Examples of available schemes include:
  • PhD (DPhil) scholarships: Interested applicants should contact Adam directly. Oxford offers many different scholarships for which eligible candidates will automatically be considered. More information here.
  • Part II (Master's students): We are always willing to accept Part II students - we will be at the PTCL open days/poster sessions, and Adam is always happy to receive emails from interested students. Alternatively, come visit us in our office (PTCL 30.19).

CURRENT VACANCIES

For start in 2026, a fully funded DPhil studentship in quantum tomography. The funding will cover tuition for home fees students for 3.5 years as well as a stipend in line with current UKRI guidance. The departmental advert can be found here.

We also strongly encourage applicants with a broader interest in photochemistry and simulations to apply, as we aim to recruit a second PhD/DPhil student to work on simulations of excited state dynamics in molecules in close collaboration with experimental groups.

Interested candidates are highly encouraged to contact Adam (adam.kirrander@chem.ox.ac.uk) in the first instance for informal inquiries.
